You have probably heard that your body can store emotions, like anger in the liver and fear in the kidneys. That can’t be healthy, right? The body and mind are constantly in a dance trying to find balance and health, but sometimes our emotions and mental health get in the way of healing. There is no doubt that our minds, bodies and spirits are inextricably interconnected, so to address one aspect of health without addressing the others will lead to sub-optimal results. This understanding is where the term “holistic” comes from. Many people use it interchangeably with “natural”, but it is not always the same, as “holistic” means treating the whole person.
Unprocessed, or stored, emotions can land anywhere in the body. When the body holds onto something – like a low-vibration, negative emotion (think shame, anger, resentment) – it can cause
congestion in the system. Additionally, the body understands things in biochemical terms, so emotions
translate into hormones and neurotransmitters that have specific (and, often, undesired) effects on
organs, tissues and systems. The body is meant to be a flow system with nutrition (and information,
feelings) coming in and waste (and processed emotions) being released. Emotions definitely serve a
purpose, but we need to recognize and properly address them. When we don’t have the time, the
bandwidth, or the tools to do so, we can get into trouble somewhere down the line.
As a practitioner who has been in the field of natural health for 28 years, and the founder of Mind Body
Spirit Release Academy™, I have seen thousands of clients and students finally move to the next level of
health once they have integrated mental and emotional release along with detoxification. It is not
uncommon for pain or discomfort to disappear or toxins and pathogens to be spontaneously released
when unprocessed emotions are addressed. As we release low-vibration, unprocessed emotions – the
body’s channels of toxin elimination are opened up and waste of all kinds can find its way out of the
body. Often, after the release, clients and students remark that they feel a huge sense of relief, like an
invisible weight being lifted and are transformed in their physical and mental health.
So, how does one do this, you ask? There are many techniques available to help in this process, some
more basic than other, but most any emotional release is beneficial to improve the physical and mental
health of your clients so that you get faster and better results.
One of the best ways to have a more holistic practice is to have your clients start journaling. You can
focus on the specific area of the body you are addressing. For example, if you were to recommend a
liver detox, you might want to start with focusing on the unprocessed emotions that are typically stored
there. Ask your client to ponder, “What anger or resentment might I be storing in my body? Is there
anything I need to let go of?” Keep in mind, the anger and resentment might be towards themselves or a
situation/circumstance, or they might even have been brought up around an angry parent and they took
his/her emotions on themselves because they could not process them. Encourage your client to be
open, honest and compassionate with themselves – they can always throw away their writing after they
are done.
For a bit deeper work, your might recommend Tapping, also known as EFT, around the issues that arose
during the journaling session. If you are unfamiliar with Tapping, a simple online search will pull up many
free resources. If your client has had serious trauma that needs to be addressed, you might look into
EMDR™ with a qualified practitioner for a very effective therapy. Speaking of therapy, a holistic therapist
can also be greatly beneficial, as none of these suggestions are meant to take the place of medical or
therapeutic care.
Lastly, for those who want to go really deep and uncover and release emotions, limiting beliefs,
generational imprints, spiritual blocks and more, Mind Body Spirit Release™ could be a good path. This
is a technique that I developed from years of experience learning how to work with clients from a truly
holistic standpoint. I practice this technique, but also teach it to practitioners around the world so that
they can integrate it into their own practices to help their clients on a deeper level.
Hopefully, if you are not already addressing the mind, body and spirit in your practice, you will be
inspired to broaden your scope, or at least find fellow practitioners who can support your clients in ways
that may not be your specialty or desire. Here’s to all of us supporting each other in working towards a
healthier, happier and more balanced world, one client at a time.
